INSERT statement

It appears that the INSERT statement is very restrictive as regards it's calling convention. When I try to use the TO_DATE or NVL, DECODE functions etc within the INSERT I just get a syntax error. It seems that you cannot call other Informix functions within an INSERT unlike Oracle/Sql Server. Is this true? Does anyone know of possible workarounds? IDS v7.31 WinNT4 Thnaks, Michael.

You can't use functions in INSERT statement. There is no workaround. -- ------------------------------------------------- With best regards, Yuri Dovgart SAP R/3, Informix technical consultant, Informix Certified Professional, Senior System Consultant System Architecture and High Availability Systems, 'Telecominvest' company Email y_dovgart@tci.ukrtel.net ICQ 39284285 > > IDS v7.31 WinNT4 > > Thnaks, > Michael. > >
