RE: Fatal error in initializing ASF

When you initialize an Informix instance for the first time, you need to specify the "i" flag as in $INFORMIXDIR/bin/oninit -iv. I also recommend the specification of the "v" flag in order to receive progress messages while Informix is starting. Do not use the "i" flag on subsequent start-ups unless you want to destroy the contents of your instance (and its databases).
