I have just installed IDS 7.30 on NT4 and for no apparent reason I am now getting the message "Unable to locate the locale or conversion file "en_us.1252" Check the file system to ensure that the file resides in the appropriate gls directory" whenever I run the SQL editor or interrogate databases through IECC. Does anyone know what is causing this? Thanks Shaun Campbell

You have to make sure that this file exists and is in the correct directory. Try finding the file "en_us.1252" to start with. If it exists then make sure the path is correct, and the file is readable by the user who is trying to run the programs. -- Compliments of QueriX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible, and Connection to other RDBMS such as Oracle. Sorry for being stupid but what do I need to try with en_us.CP1252? I didn't set anything to en_us.1252 it just appeared and I am not sure where from. So I was suspecting that you might have the same problem. I typed client and dblocale without that "CP" in ODBC Data Sources setup window and received the same error as you 8-(. To check or set dblocale on Unix is very simple. You have just to type env and you get the whole environment settings. With export DBLOCALE=en_us.8859-1 before starting server is easy to define which locale to use. There must be also some instruction about same thing on NT. Damijan
