RE: Informix over ODBC & WAN

With the Openlink ODBC drivers, you can change the send and receive packet sizes. LAN speeds to 100 MBPS, and wan speeds of 1.1 MBPS. Now, performance is excellent over the LAN with access times in the seconds range for most data retrievals about 2000-5000 records. However, in the wan environment it is taking multiple minutes for the same query. I have modified the cursor calls to do extended fetches to get multiple rows at a time and reduce ODBC calls, however that has not been successful. I have noticed the packet size is 576. Is it possible to increase this? Also will that help performance on the wan? Can anyone make recommendations for improvements in performance over the wan without simply reducing the amount of data? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin Badinger kbadinger@globeset.com Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
