RE: Insights & trends

Hmmm. I guess its time for Jerry to try and put a positive spin on things. :-) I mean heck.. I guess those days of 'double digit growth' are long gone. But no offense Jerry, a "What is Informix" as a query on Google doesn't mean good things. If anything it means that IBM releases a new version of IDS and people who are paid to watch IBM say "Huh? What's Informix?". And that's the best spin you can put on it. Worst case? Its another client like Sears that goes DB2 and MySQL to replace their Informix environment. (Oh and they have Hadoop now too. ;-) But I digress.... C'mon Jerry, you want to play the spin game, try and be more honest. IBM's latest dog and pony show was all about DB2. Of course look on the bright side. In Chicago, the bulk of the audience was IBMers with a handful of IBM customers present. That's the public image from IBM. So where's IDS? Aww Jerry, where's the love? C'mon, the first step to solving your problem is to recognize that you actually *have* a problem. :-) But hey! What do I know? Even IBM IM's analytics group is using Hadoop. -G To: cesar_inacio_martins@yahoo.com.br Subject: Re: Insights & trends From: jkeesee@us.ibm.com Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2010 14:36:26 -0500 CC: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org; informix-list@iiug.org Hi Cesar, I believe the increase in searches for Informix is a result of the increased presence we have had over the past several months. Certainly our release last week also has resulted in renewed interest. We have received very positive feedback from the many analysts that we have briefed on the new release. You can also read a letter from Rob Thomas to the community which is posted on the IIUG web site which speaks to even more focus on Informix inside of IBM. I think this is good and bad... good because more people is "seeing" Informix... the bad is, how they don't know what is Informix!!!?? I always think this is only here in Brazil where mostly of the developers and IT managers don't know or never hear about Informix... now I have doubt if this is for hole world. http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=informix%2Cdb2&date=today%2012-m&cmpt=q http://www.google.com/trends?q=informix%2C+db2&ctab=0&geo=all&date=ytd&sort=0 _______________________________________________ Informix-list mailing list Informix-list@iiug.org http://www.iiug.org/mailman/listinfo/informix-list _______________________________________________ Informix-list mailing list Informix-list@iiug.org http://www.iiug.org/mailman/listinfo/informix-list
