Maxim R. Ahmetov asked how to create a trigger on informix.systables in ODS 7.3, for a database synchronization system. Stefan Weideneder answered that triggers cannot be defined on system tables. Avi Abrami asked why he wanted one. Rob Wilson suggested Cloudscape and Rick suggested HDR as replication alternatives. No workaround for the trigger itself was given.

Hello! Can anybody explain me how I can create trigger on "informix".systables? (The server I deal with is Informix Online Dynamic Server 7.3.) Max

The system being developed implies synchronization of database structures and synchronization of data from several tables. So, in order to relate a modification of data in a table to an alteration of that table I would like to spot when the alteration has happened. Of course, I can develop the system without creating triggers on system tables but in this case, more coding is required. Bye Max

It replicates data and schema changes. -- Rob Wilson rwilson@ntsource.com
