IDS eats up all cpu ressources!

Hi,
we were running fine (IDS 7.30, HP-UX 10.20) until we attached an
EMC-Clariion diskarray (connected with fibre-channel link).
Doing any "simple" operation like a dbimport or dbload, both cpus of
the system go 100% busy, spending 98% of the time in user-mode.
About no user is handled by the system in this situation.
We looked at the I/Os with sar and there is nearly no I/O on the
dbspace where the dbimport should create the database (and the
dbimport will not end in a reasonable time).
Is there anyone who has an idea?
Is there any parameter that can be set?
Thank you,
Jens

Dbimport and dbload are very intensive in their use of resources but this
does not sound right. Are the chunks RAW (ie character) devices or COOKED
(block devices or filesystem files)? What are you using for RAID, HP OS
level utilities or the built-in Clariion RAID support? What level of RAID?

Art S. Kagel
I would use onstat -g glo a couple of times during the load
and see if longspins are going up. If so look at onstat -g spi.
Just a guess,
