You want to select the rows in order by the uppercase version of the column messages? Is news a UDT column or a set column in the MyTable table? Try: select news.* from myTable order by UPPER( news.messages ); Arnaud Touboulic wrote: > > hi, > > i would like to know the syntax in Informix/SQL for the function > "toUpperCase". > > example : select news.* from myTable order by news.messages.toUpperCase; > > thx in advance > > atouboulic@uic.asso.fr
