Hardware upgrade and efficiency of Informix

Hello to everybody, I have a following problems: we have a Compaq ProLiant 8000 Server with 1 GB RAM, 2 X CPU Xeon 550 , SCO 5.0.5 and Informix 7.31. We use it to manage a credit card databases. The efficiency of this system is rather poor. The first thing: the whole work is done only on one processor (of course the SCO is for two processors) - our support does not know how to configure Informix/SCO to split a work between two processors. We are still waiting for their answer. Maybe someone could send me some description how to configure it to use effectively two processors? (Sorry I am not a SCO or Informix administrator, so my description of this problem may not be precise enough) And the second thing: how an efficiency of the system would grow up in a case of a computer with four processors? Would it be much better? Is it worth to buy extra two processors (we've got an offer for about 5000USD for one processor Intel Xeon 550)(a mainboard of the server is ready to have them installed)?
