When I run oninit (Sparc Sun Solaris 7 en IDS 7.23), I receive this
messages:
hvbbg-sun:/tmp(31)# oninit
oninit: Cannot open chunk '/dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s6'. errno = 2
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory initialization
The log file looks like this:

09:29:03 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG =
'/opt/informix/etc/log_full.sh'

09:29:10 Results: Chunk 1 is being taken OFFLINE.
09:29:10 Action: Restore chunk from archive. If this is a temporarydbspace
chunk, drop and add the dbspace to enable it.

What did I do? Well,
The db was up and running but without mirroring. So I tried to drop the
dbspaces and blobspaces and all the databases. Only rootdbs on the
sysmaster db I could'nt drop. So I formatted the drive (using
format-utility in Sun). After this format, I receive always the messages
described above when doing oninit? Can someone help me with this. I've
already installed informix in an other directory and have the rootdbs on
another disk. Always the same prob.
What does this sanity check mean and how can I get rid of a whole db
without problems?
Thans in advance

Before you buy.
Congratulations,
You have succeeded in getting rid of the database.
When you ran the format utility, you wiped out the data that Informix
expects to see at the beginning of each chunk when it starts. That is the
meaning of the 'sanity check' -- which says, "Hey buddy, this area doesn't
look like a chunk to me. Are you crazy or something?"
Choices are:
1) Restore the database.
2) Re-initialize the database (with oninit -i).
Good Luck.
