Trying to access an SE database on Linux using CLI (ODBC) on the same box, I'm getting the following error: 2000-02-28 16:28:22.648068 daemon err = -952: User's password is not correct for the database server. The login/password pair are valid on this server. Any pointers on what might cause this apparently ambiguous error? Thanks. -- Microsoft gives you Windows but Unix gives you the whole house!
Found it! It was shadow passwords. Evidently, the CLI doesn't support shadow passwords so I disabled them with pwunconv. Now, thanks to iODBC and CLI, I have ODBC access to Informix databases from Linux! Many thanks Patrick for all your help. You should first try to connect to the database thro' dbaccess using the
CONNECT option, you will be prompted to enter a username and password. If
this does not allow u in with the username and password you specified then u
will have .....
...........at least it worked for me to re-install the Informix Server only,
you dont have to re-initialise or anything, just re-install the server and
the username and password should be informix informix.
This worked for me on IDS 7.3xx
