Backup with Ontape very slow

Hello People of Forum!
I have installed Informix Dynamic Server 7.31 TD6 on a Windows 2000 Server. So
last Friday was the backup of it using the BrigthStor ArcServe Backup, but
that day I won the same license. I tried to do the backup using ontape but I
takes a long, long time. I set the variables in 256 kB tapeblk which is the
maximum allowed me (do not know if Informix or operating system).
Is there any setting that provides better performance?. The base measures 110
GB tape drive is an Ultrium LTO2.
Of course, thank you for your kind attention.

Pipe it through a compression package.
ontape -s -L 0 -t STDIO | gzip - > <your_device>

Then he'd have to set the TAPEDEV up as a named pipe.

Hi Gustavo,
Wondering if maybe this is about the issue and solution documented here,
related with old pages in an archive?
Informix Ontape Backup Runs Slow
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg3T1000184
In this situation, the fix exists in the Informix version you are using but
not enabled by default.. CCFLAGS setting in the ONCONFIG should help.
Hope is that. Good luck!
Regards,
Veronica.
