There were really no problems. I have since moved all of the servers to 64 bit mode and all is well Thanks Phillip Tallent SAP R3 Basis / Informix DBA Brachs Confections Inc. I am trying to set up a test system to evaluate the impact of moving my corporate database from an older Sun box to a new HP 9000 Unix server. The new server would be running HP-UX v.11, which runs in 64 bit mode on all of their new servers. I have just found out that my test server, which is an older unit, does not support 64 bit mode. I talked to HP and they advised me to set up the test system with HP-UX v.11 running in 32 bit mode. According to them, anything that runs on HP-UX v.11 in 32 bit mode will run in 64 bit in "narrow" mode. I am not satisfied with their answer. I have a limited time to test and I thought I had the perfect environment to simulate the OS that I was migrating to. Now I have to take their word that I can go from 32 bit to 64 bit later. Does anyone out there have any first hand knowledge of running IDS v.7.31.uc2 on HP-UX v.11 in 64 bit mode? I will also be porting some 4GL and IQ scripts as well. Any help would be appreciated. -Craig ------_=_NextPart_001_01BF7E14.F8B0346A Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META NAME=3D"Generator" CONTENT=3D"MS Exchange Server version = 5.5.2448.0"> <TITLE>RE: HP-UX v11 in 64 Bit mode compatible with IDS = v7.31.uc2?</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> <P><FONT SIZE=3D2>We have been running Informix in 32 bit and 64 bit = mode on HP-UX 11.0. I have since moved all of the servers to 64 bit > mode and all is well Yes, but what versions if IDS? We have been running IDS 7.30.UC3 and UC9 now for some time on HP-UX 11 in 64 bit mode. We have had problems from time to time, and the last time the engineer from Informix complained about the version we had running on 64 bit HP-UX 11. He said that we needed to run IDS 7.31.FC4 for HP-UX 11 in 64 bit mode, and IDS 7.31.HC4 for 32 bit mode. What we had running was not supported. We have been assured earlier from both HP and Informix support that there would be no problems with 7.30.UC[3-9] on HP-UX 11. I don't now if our problems are just bugs with our version or if they are related to HP-UX 11, though. Are there any hard facts on these matters? -- 'yvind Gjerstad Systems dept DFDS Tollpost-Globe AS N-6301 'ndalsnes/Norway E-mail: ogj@tollpost.no Phone: +47 7122 6663 Fax: +47 7122 6694

Informix UK Tech Support recommend 7.31.UC5 or 7.31.FC5 for 64-bit platforms. There are lots of bug fixes in these versions. -- David Williams
