multi-query prepare

I'm developing with ADO 2.1 and Informix 7.24.UC6 database. Connection
is realized with Informix-CLI 2.5
The connection between application and database is running. To speed up
data-transfer i'd like to use the 'SET ISOLATION TO DIRTY READ'-
statement in front of an SELECT...-statement. This causes following
error:
[INTERSOLV][ODBC Informix driver][Informix]Cannot use a select or any
of the database statements in a multi-query prepare.
The complete SQL-Syntax is as follows:
SET ISOLATION TO DIRTY READ;
SELECT * FROM mdsb;Splitting the statement into 2 pieces is not the solution, DIRTY READ
will not work like that.
Any ideas? Please help me, I'm going to get crazy pretty soon!

What do you mean by 'dirty read will not work like that'? Dirty read is
not query specific, it's an isolation mode for your connection.

Hallo Mars1972, thanks for your answer. After going through my project one more time, I found the IsolationLevel-Property for the connection- object. Which setting is the best for read-only-access to data, which does not have to be latest version? (possible Values are: adXactUnspecified, adXactChaos, adXactBrowse, adXactReadUncommitted, adXactCursorStability, adXactReadCommitted, adXactRepeatableRead, adXactIsolated, adXactSerializable) Which of these settings comes nearest the "DIRTY READ"-statement? Thanks again for your help Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
