oninit -s at statup?

Hi,
Every times after i startup the Hardware, SGI, i noticed that there are
quite a number of oninit -s process start running at the background when i
do a ps -ef. Same thing when the database go online. What is the oninit -s
for? Will these oninit slow down the performance? What are implication if i
would to kill them.
Would somebody explain the interpretation of onstat -g glo, please.

I love this question! Every time I hear it...
I'm glad it's not one of our customers for a change.
All those processes are doing specific jobs for the database engine. If you
kill them, then that job won't be done... There's a good chance also that
the database contents will also be corrupted beyond recovery.
If you truly wish to understand what these processes do, then you need to
study the entertaining subject which is the architecture of the Informix
engines. Until then, you should accept whatever comes out of the box without
question.
