Re: "bad primary chunk" with temporary dbspace
Posted in 1996
Neil,
I too have experienced this when restoring my 7.X engines. Informix
also informed me that it was a bug that is "supposedly" fixed in later
7.1X releases.
What I've had to do is: Since all of my path's in Informix are symbolic
links, I just created another symbolic link to the partition which is
my tempdbs. Then I create another temp dbspace using onmonitor or onspaces.
Then I change my DBSPACETEMP variable to point to the new temp space. This
works just fine, but keep in mind the listing for the old temp space is
still there, and everytime you initialize you will get an error which you
must ignore. UBE (Ugly But Effective).
To my knowledge the temp dbspaces are the only ones affected by this error.
Hope this helps,
Tracy
