Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

This is described in the Performance Tuning Guide in detail. (I cannot
locate ours at present).
The top of onstat -l gives information on the use of the physical and
logical buffers - namely the number o writes per I/O versus Buffer size.
The guides, I recall, suggests aiming the writes per I/O at 75% of the
Buffer size. If the writes are much higher than 75% increase the Buffer, if
much lower then decrease.

Subject: tuning log buffers
What I know:
You control the size of the log buffers through the onconfig variables
LOGBUFF (logical) and PHYSBUFF (physical). By increasing their size you
trade safety for speed.
What I don't know:
How do you know if these variables need to be increased/decreased to
optimize performance? Are their any good onstat commands or anything else I
should look at?
Any help would be appreciated!
