Environment: Dynamic 4gl V 2.1 S.O. Solaris 2.6 IDS 7.31.UC-1 When i use DEFINE record_variable_name RECORD LIKE TABLE_NAME.* i recive an error at compilation time. | fglcomp: The symbol "table-name" is not the name of a table in the specified database. How i can solve this? Thanks. --------------------------------------- Isidre PONS ROCA BASE - Gesti' d'Ingressos Locals (Diputacio de Tarragona) Servei de Sistemes de Informacio Av President Lluis Companys 12-C 43005 - Tarragona SPAIN Tel # +34 977 236731 Fax # +34 977 227302 http://www.altanet.org ipons@dtgna.altanet.org ---------------------------------------
I am not sure if the code in your posting is the actual code you are trying to compile, but: 1. Of course, TABLE_NAME has to be the name of a table which actually exists in the database (cannot use a "dynamic" name). 2. If TABLE_NAME actually does exist in the database but you are still getting this error, then you probably do not have an updated schema file. Run fglschema on the database and make sure the schema file is in your directory or otherwise accessible. When I installed 4js (which is the same as D4GL) it created a runner, for a 7.1x Informix-Environment, although I use SE 7.24 on my Linux-Box. Wolfgang

I sometimes forget this, and try to compile when the relevant database is not visible (because my environment is pointing at some other server), or when I don't have permissions on the database. These result in the "...not the name of a table..." error. -- Andrew Pearson "exactly what the web needs less of".
