RE: Slow trigger in cluster-environment
Posted in 2000
Pentti,
Just want to let you know that you are not the only one who thinks the
MC/ServiceGuard software may add significant overhead.
We have Informix 7.31.FC2 running on a two-node HP K 580 cluster in a
failover mode.
We hade some problems a couple of weeks ago with the cluster and networks so
we brought up the primary box as a standalone.
For the first week, the box seemed much faster - lower system calls, lower
run queue. Our main process had one of it's key transactions drop from an
average of 2.3 seconds per transaction to around 1.8 seconds.
Now that we have been up for 2 weeks, the transaction time is back up to 2.2
seconds, the run queue is back up as well as the system calls.
The only thing that still seems much faster is doing a netstat -i or -r. It
was always painfully slow with the cluster active now it is almost instant.
The users are reluctant to go back to the cluster, other than some key
benefits.
