Ontape restore from 7.24.X to 7.30.X fails

We are trying to restore a backup using ontape. The current database engine
is IDS 7.30, but our ontape backup is from a IDS 7.24 system. When I start
the backup, It asks for the tape to be mounted, reads the tape header, and
then fails with "Memory Fault". I was sure that we should be able to
restore an older version to a newer engine. Any thoughts.
Thanks,
Marc Hopkins

My understanding is that the restoration of an archive created with an
older version to newer version should be within the same subrelease
(7.24.uc1 to 7.24.uc5, for example). I'm not sure that what you are
trying to do would work.

You were incorrect. You can only restore to the same version which was used to
take the archive.
See my Unofficial FAQ at
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Bridge/4578/faq.html -- the archiving
section contains this exact question. Don't know if it's in the IIUG FAQ
(David?) but it probably should be.
