Hi,
I have a database with a procedure upper and lower on 7.30!
I have done an export and wanna import now on 9,30/9.40.
But I am not able to make an upper or lower procedure!
What's up here?

in
versions prior to 7.30 upper and lower were not part of informix sql.
So users wrote their own upper and lower procedure for the same effect.
Try to edit the dbexport sql file and remove procedures upper and lower.

It is a nice idea....if this is causing your import to fail removing it
would atleast allow the import to complete. Then you could resolve the
proc. issues afterwards.
On the issue with the import failing...at what point is the import failing?
Is it related to the data loading or index creations?

Did u
read my mail!!!!
upper and lower functions are now built in informix. so even if you
remove it, your applications will most likely continue to run.
u just can't sit idle hoping something will happen on its own. u have
to do something.
for the last time I am outlining the steps
1. remove upper and lower procedures from the sql file.
2. load it. that will complete dbimport.
3. then try to create it thru dbaccess.
4. or better try to run without those procedures. ur application should run
fine.

I have tried really much, my database is import!
But I need my upper and lower procedures, cause the appl needs them in that
way.
So what is your hint?

nothing will happen to them. upper and lower are still there as part of
informix functions.
or do this. remove those procedures from the dbexport sql file and then later
on add it manually. see whether it rejects them at that time.
the bottomling is that u need to get ur job done and have to try various
options.
