We circumvented this problem by specifying an expression in the aggregate function. For example: SELECT SUM(column_a+0) ..... Does anyone else have a better solution? -----Original Message----- From: Thomas Bartsch [mailto:tbartsch@attika.de] Sent: Friday, July 09, 1999 07:53 To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: problem with sum() aggregate on IDS 7.30 Help!! I work with IDS 7.30 on SCO 5.0.5. When I try to calculate the sum() over a decimal or money column, the SUM() aggregate breaks with error 1226 (DECIMAL or MONEY value exceeds maximum precision ) when the result takes more place than one byte over column definition. For example when the column is defined decimal(3,0), the maximum possible result is 9999. This is true for 4GL and SQL. This problem never happened with my old SE 4.1 Has anyone experience with this problem? please help me! Thomas Bartsch
Upgrate to 7.31. It is a bug. "Bernstein, Rick" wrote: > We circumvented this problem by specifying an expression in the aggregate > function. I think you should upgrate IDS to 7.31. It is a bug. "Bernstein, Rick" wrote: > We circumvented this problem by specifying an expression in the aggregate > function. Now a patch is available. You can download it under ftp://ftp.informix.com/incoming/871854 I think, Informix will remove it after a few days. If so, contact me, ' will keep the file Thomas Bartsch
