Using ADO/ODBC for web connection

Hi, We are trying to connect to an Informix 7 database on a Sun Ultra Unix platform via ODBC and ADO on a Win NT box. We had it working with TUN ODBC drivers, but there are problems when we connect through any other port number other than the default port HTTP:80!!! Anyway ive downloaded the Client SDK to see if that makes any difference, but i'm struggling to install it on both the Unix and NT boxes. It asks for a service name in the ODBC driver and i havent got a clue how to find out what it is or how to set it up if it exists! Help ...Please! Hi Colin, A service name/port pair needs to be put into your WinNT services file (on my machine c:\\winnt40\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\services). This tells the ODBC/OLE-DB driver which port on the Solaris box to connect to. To get the right port simply go to your "sqlhosts" file on the Solaris box (under $INFORMIXDIR/etc) and look at the 'name' which is at the end of the row for your server name (the last 'column'). Then go look in your /etc/services file on the Solaris box to find that name, and there will be your port (something like "my_informix_server_tcp 1066/tcp"). That is what you need to put in the corresponding services file on your NT box....Then you should be up and running...
