You will need to do a restore and tell the engine NOT to roll forward any logical logs otherwise you will roll forward the long transaction itself and be back where you are now. When the engine tries to start it sweeps the logs and finds a partial transaction record (and update will consist, for example, of a pre and post log record and one of these did not get flushed). There are only two solutions 1) Restore the server from archive and when prompted for logical logs to restore say no. The database will be restored as of the beginning of the archive and you will have to repeat all transactions since manually. (If you do this make sure to bring the engine fully online after the restore before shutting it down or you will have to restore all over again.) 2) Call Informix tech support and they will truncate the current or last complete logical log on disk so that the startup fast recovery can complete successfully. This will only possibly cause the loss of a few transactions. -- Art S. Kagel & Family kagel@erols.com
