Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Robert Taylor announced he was leaving the newsgroup to move to Oracle. Thomas Parsli and Steven Hauser joked in reply, Hauser saying he would miss dbschema, easy parallel processing and the architecture. Peter Wiley said Oracle 8i was perhaps a tenth as good, while wildpony claimed Oracle was ten times better. A light-hearted farewell with no technical question.

Ah well , got to have a bit of variety.

HEH, you will soon miss dbschema, easy parallel processing
(no more just set vcpu to (n host cpu) -1 )
and sensible architecture.

It's not. Maybe 1/10 as good. And yes I am using the 'latest &
greatest' 8i release.
Lucky I still have my personal Informix systems to develop/maintain
stuff on.
Nobody here seems to be mentioning much Java stuff, though, still 4GL.
Oh well, back to the other n/gs.
