Also, you don't have replication capabilities. Only tablespace blobs are possible in XPS. The use of ROWID is not available. There are some neat features in 8.31 that, in my opinion, should be made available to the regular IDS stream. One very cool thing is the concept of '.profile' for users connecting to a database. There is a stored proc that can be written and customized for a user or created for public that will be executed when the session is connected and there is a complementary one for session termination. Not much that I know of, but I've not been formally briefed/trained on the differences between 7.31 and 8.31. If I was looking for problem areas, then I'd look at things like the SQL-92 syntax additions made in 7.3x. I know XPS has CASE (and had it before IDS did). XPS now has blobs and stored procedures; the 8.2x and earlier versions did not. XPS does not support unlogged databases -- if you try a plain 'CREATE DATABASE xyz', the database will have a transaction log. DBD::Informix detects the XPS server and doesn't try to run the unlogged database test on it. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h> ------_=_NextPart_001_01C022FB.01372220 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META NAME=3D"Generator" CONTENT=3D"MS Exchange Server version = 5.5.2652.35"> <TITLE>RE: RAW/RAID/2gig limit??</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> <P><FONT SIZE=3D2>There are some IDS SQL features (such as optimizer = hints, some of the SQL functions) that are unavailable in XPS. = Also, you don't have replication capabilities.
