Performance Monitoring

Hi There We are running Informix Online 7.0 and Digital UNIX 4.0B on an AlphaServer 4100 and would like to monitor connections to individual databases on our machine to get an idea as to which users are connecting to which databases and how much resource they are consuming. Any ideas on how to achieve this ??? Thanks in anticipation. Rob Alloway Data Engineering

How about sysmaster database ? ;-)
select * from syslocks
where owner in (select sid from syssessions
where username="user")
For getting resource see sysseswts, syssesprof, syssessions, syslocks tables.

Do you know if I can query these tables while connected to another
database in Informix. For instance, in Sybase and MS SQL Server, I
can reference a table in another db using code like
select * from dbname.objectowner.tablename
Or do I have to connect to sysmaster to do it?

That will work fine as long as the current database has a compatible
logging mode to sysmaster which is declared as an unbuffered logged
database. You would NOT be able to query sysmaster tables from a mode
ANSI or unlogged database.
