Re: ERROR -4518 String Storage problem

This 4518 error can be caused by several problems where the temporary storage for strings has not been deallocated in 4GL. Give Informix a call, they have a TechInfo # 3925 that has a routine to try an track down the error. It is a real pain to find. :-( One thing not mentioned in the TechInfo that also caused 4518 errors is assigned a value to a substring, i.e. let text[1,8] = sentence[10,18] I have had a line like this cause the 4518 error. If you can't get it from informix support, give me a call, I have a copy that I can fax to you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul Watje SPAMIS Data Center paulw@spamis.jcdc.eta.gov Largest Informix Shop Voice: (800) 598-5008 in San Marcos, TX FAX: (512) 396-6600 ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 01 Jul 94 05:53:56 GMT From: Peter Strempel <chandos@sydney.DIALix.oz.au> To: informix-list@rmy.emory.edu Subject: ERROR -4518 String Storage problem I would appreciate any help with the following error that is occuring at different places in the program where variables are being returned from a function.
