I want to print to forms. Every customer has a special logo and this logo must also be print to the form. How can I save and print a graphic with Informix-4GL 7.2 (Online)?
After reading some of the other responses I have yet another alternative. This is not for the faint of heart but it does offer some advantages. Also, it was some time ago with a former employer that this was developed, so I will only hit the highlights. The graphics were stored as individual files on the (UNIX) system. I forget the format. We used 4GL reports to create xroff output. Graphics were (or could be) different sizes. Numeric values that were used as arguments to some xroff functions for proper placement on the page were tracked in a 4GL library. A better option for this would be in a table. Based on printer selection the xroff command was assembled then "RUN" from the report driver. The downside . . . xroff! Don't kid yourself. If you choose this route and do not know xroff, PAY FOR HELP! The upside. Xroff. There are very few things regarding page layout that xroff can not do. A totally ascii (other that the graphic) solution that is platform independent. No 'c'. No ESQL. No wrappers. You get the idea. Support for a wide array of printers. Ease of maintenance. Anyhow, I doubt you will choose this route but I tender it as a consideration. Please let the group know how you resolve this. This is a good, portable solution, but I had the report generate tex because tex is free software and easy to port. -- Forte International, P.O.
