smallfloat underflow

Hello! I have underflow problems with inserting really small C-floats (~1e-39) to DB type smallfloat. In section about SMALLFLOATs (pg. 3-62), Informix Reference Guide says: ``The range of values for a SMALLFLOAT data type is the same as the range of values for the C float data type on your computer.'' I'm attaching the program which did not demonstrate the described behaviour on Linux (Intel, SuSE 6.2, GCC) and on Sinix (Sinix-Y, Reliant UNIX 5.43, cc or gcc). I get an error -1222 - Value will not fit in a SMALLFLOAT. Am I missing something? -- Regards, Roman
