linking question for csdk 2.30uc11
Posted in 2000
Environment: solaris 2.6 using informix csdk 230uc11. Problem: I am using C++ csdk to create an application dynamic .so library. This library also has some other third-party .so library dependencies. The final library is about 18M big. When this library is linked with a small test program and run with command-line arguments, it core-dumps with a segment violation(SIGSEGV) in the very first line of the program. If the same test program is run without any command-line arguments, it works fine. Running it through solaris bcheck (debugger rtc checker), shows a memory leak in _init() which takes place before main() is invoked. It shows that the informix, init_gls() function is invoked and it does a putenv() etc which has a memory leak. Anyway the program works in bcheck or debugger. My question is does anyone know, 1. any documentation on the C++ informix libs that have to be linked in. There is woefully no documentation about the libs to be linked in except for the demo Makefile in c++ directory. Even the programmers guide talks about the C++ classes only and not about the libraries to be linked in and in what order etc 2. is C++ interface just a wrapper over the esql stuff or is it a cleaner interface and do i need to use the esql script for C++ interface also. 3. should i try 2.4 CSDK - is it any better ? 4. a general question - is there any info on the stack size etc of a solaris process (or any unix process) I remember while doing DOS/Windooze programming many years ago, about having to fiddle around with stack-sizes etc. As far as i know unix (at least solaris) does not require any such tweaking, but you never know. any suggestions/pointers to information/advice etc will be greatly appreciated.
