We are running Informix on several IBM RS6000 servers. We are quite happy with performance. We have a F50 RS/6000 with 576 Meg ram and two 166 Mhz processors. We have 60 users which use an Informix database of approximately 6 Gig size. Our version of AIX is 4.3.3 and Informix 7.31. Performance is mostly reasonable, although we have times of high CPU use and are looking at reorganizing the database and/or purchasing faster or more processors. I wouldn't accept their answer unless they give you a reason why. If they do, I'd be interested in knowing why.
