Procedure for Creation of NEW Newsgroup (comp.databases.informix.sap) Requested

I have been told that a proposal to create a new newsgroup based in part on this one must be made within this group and seconded, with a vote to be conducted and tallied by a third party. I am a bit unfamiliar with this procedure and cannot find any documentation on it. 1. Would someone kindly point me in the direction of the procedure? 2. Is there a need for such a group? Quite a few people I have discussed this with off-board tell me that it is a good idea, that there is not enough information sharing between SAP / Informix people being conducted and not everyone likes the idea of mailing lists (such as the new "sapmix" list, recently created by Informix). Since there are several concepts and enough DBA-monitoring differences in the products, I believe there is significant reason to have a separate sub-group for these discussions. 3. Please HOLD your votes until I discover the procedure and someone to tally the votes (if such is required). I ask that you think over this proposal and grant it when the time comes to grant it. DBAs like myself would appreciate having a separate group under this newsgroup to discuss INFORMIX as it applies and works under SAP R/3. Thank you. =============================================== Clifton M. Is there any way that a new mailing list could be created, like lawson_sig@iiug.org? I know that Clem Akins @ Informix was the contact point at one time, but I haven't heard much from him lately. I submitted this item to the newsgroup earlier this week. I just believe that a much larger audience could be gained by having it as a newsgroup and letting people subscribe to the newsgroup. Take care. Clifton [The following mail was received by me and others at my employer's. In order to get as many people involved in this mailing list, I thought I would post the information here in the INFORMIX newsgroup.] Hello all in SAP-Land, In an effort to meet the ever-increasing need to help customers help themselves, we are announcing today the immediate introduction of the 'sapmix' email list. What is sapmix? sapmix is a virtual SAP/Informix users group. sapmix provides a forum for SAP/Informix customers to communicate with each other about project plans, new products, techniques, staffing plans etc. In addition to helping customers connect with each other, sapmix will provide another forum for Informix and SAP employees address customers in a one-to-many forum. Please join the sapmix list by completing the following: send email to: list-man@informix.com with the subject line: subscribe sapmix sapmix FAQ ========== Why are we doing this? Many of our customers have expressed the great value they see in talking to other customers with similar environments, challenges and plans. Other mechanisms such as local user groups sometimes lack 'critical mass'. Who can join? sapmix is intended for the exclusive use of Informix employees, SAP employees and SAP/Informix customers. Subscriptions will be monitored and Informix reserves the right to remove or disqualify subscriptions disturb the customer value of the forum. How do I join? send email to list-man@informix.com with the subject line: subscribe sapmix Is this a new form of customer support? This forum is not a mechanism for product support. Queries related to technical product questions will be discouraged and redirected to the appropriate SAP/Informix support channels. What language will be used? Discussion of all forms is encouraged, however English will be the most widely understood language. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ Tom Rieger voice: 972-444-2653 Senior Sales Engineer fax: 972-444-2699 Informix Software, Inc. email: trieger@informix.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ Carlson@WHSmith <carlson1@bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:37C69923.CDCF7003@bellsouth.net... > Is there any way that a new mailing list could be created, like > lawson_sig@iiug.org?
