RE: ADSM and Onbar
Posted in 1999
No utility is available to IDS 7.x users for removing "old" onbar backups
from
the ADSM database. IBM has told us that it is an Informix responsibility.
The ADSM API does support such calls. At least one client was developing
their own API. However, their management would not allow them to share it.
Informix has developed an "onsymsync" utility for 9.x. However, they have
indicated that they have no plans to retrofit it to IDS 7.x.
We have developed scripts to delete "old" backup information from the
"sysutils"
database and the ixbar file. We also have procedures, which allow us to
scratch
"old" ADSM backup tapes. These procedures are used as a crude workaround
until an
Informix supported utility is available.

Subject: ADSM and Onbar
I am having a problem. I am do my archiving using ADSM and Onbar. Each time
I archive Onbar/ADSM creates a new FILESPACE(I believe that is what it is
called.). ADSM is using the backup portion of ADSM and I have not been able
to figure out how to expire the older FILESPACE's, so that I can reclaim the
tape storage space. Below are some of the vitals of our platform.
ADSM Server Version 3.1.5
ADSM Client Version 3.1.6
IDS 7.30.uc6
AIX 4.3.2
