Hi,
Thanks to all of those who responded to my earlier query.
I have a another problem with an application that uses Informix 7.x
and uses synonyms on Ifx 5.x database.
It goes like this:
I have a database residing on Informix 5.X, say dbA. I have created a
synonym for a table of this database in another database residing on
Informix 7.X, say dbB. Now I have my main database which also resides
on Informix 7.x , say dbC. This database dbC has views created on the
database dbB( these views are on the tables that are actually synonyms
for the tables in database dbA).
I have a set of background processes , which keep querying these
views. If, in the meantime , the Informix 5 server is shutdown and
brought up again, then I HAVE to stop my background processes and
restart them. If not, then my background processes start giving the
following errors for all subsequent queries on these views even after
the Ifx 5 is brought up.
-459 INFORMIX-OnLine was shut down.
-529 Cannot attach to transaction.
Is this something to do with views or with synonyms. Is there any way
out apart from connecting to the Database DbC again?
BTW , all my databases are with buffered logging, if that helps .
Any help on this problem would be welcome.
TIA,
Ajay
