RE: How to clean up sysutils
Posted in 1999
Informix has an onsmsync utility which will synchronize the sysutils
database with ADSM.
It is available with IDS 9.2. (aka Centaur, aka IDS 2000) and IDS 8.x.
At Informix Solutions Portal 99 Informix stated that they had not heard a
demand to make
it available in earlier releases. Therefore, they had no plans to do so.
Perhaps if enough sites complain, Informix will reconsider this decision.
The developers did indicate that it would not be difficult to port the
utility to IDS 7.3x.
Time and resources to perform the necessary testing was their major concern.
In the meantime, the release notes indicate how to purge old backups from
the
sysutils database. Our major issue is how to safely delete unnecessary log
backups from
ADSM. With our multiple Informix instances using onbar and ADSM for about 2
years,
we have created many thousands of log backup files.
