shared fields between tables

Hi, I am using Informix IDS 7.1 w/ ESQL/C. Now, I have two table that are defined like these: Table_a fieldOne integer fieldTwo integer Lock integer Table_b fieldXX integer Lock integer When a specific row of Table_a has the Lock value set, I need to go update all rows with a certain value of fieldXX to have their Lock field set. PLEASE, post the problem not your solution and we can help. Based on the description here I have no idea what you want to accomplish. Are you trying to implement some kind of manual transaction locking? Why when the engine provides such good locking and concurrency features already? What is it you want to do? Art S.
