You're probably going to run into trouble. The way I would do this would be to remove all of the database logic from the main line program, and set up two seperate programs, one for the informix database and one for the oracle database. I would then create a protocal of "request/response" between the main program and each of the two other programs. I would plan on using an IPC un-named pipe to communicate between the programs. This would allow requests to be sent from the main program to the database interface programs. These programs would then also use pipes to sent the response back to the main program. It's not just the SQLCA that is going to cause problems. Informix has a lot of items that must link together to function successfully. I suspect that oracle is the same. These are designed to link together so that the run-time executable will communicat with the engines successfully. It's very possible that you will run into run into problems with potential conflicts between these routines. It would be best if the informix and the oracle code were kept self-contained.
