INFORMIX DBA NEEDED

INFORMIX DBA NEEDED Central Massachusetts $65-80,000/yr. My client company, a dynamic firm that is growing very rapidly, is seeking an Informix DBA to assume a major role in the IT department. The company did an IPO last year. Job Specifications: Bachelor's degree (preferably Management Information Systems, Statistics, or Mathematics) or equivalent experience; minimum of four to six years of data processing experience with at least two to four years in a Database Administration or Systems Analyst position; knowledge of current database operating system(s) and hardware platform(s) is desirable; excellent organizational and communication skills required; the ability to work with people in varied organizational relationships; must possess above avereage time management and organizational skills. The Informix Database Administrator Role will be: Necessities: * Informix Dynamic Server version 7.2 or 7.3 * configuration of multiple online instances environment * 'top notch' DDL skills * familiarity with backup and restore procedures * familiarity with IDS installs and standards * 'top notch' communication skills * table unload & reload procedures between instances and among machines * working knowledge of triggers and stored procedures * knowledge of sysmaster database and SMI * ability to work in a fast-paced team environment * ability to tune instance for performance gaines Nice to haves: * Informix Certified Professional * Oracle background * scripting (KSH preferable, awk would be a bonus) * multiple machine configuration support (clusters) * HPUX 10.20 Knowledge * Lawson knowledge Role: * Informix Database Server support and administration * support of development staff * DDL development to specs * DDL support for current and future databse entities Environment: * 3 HP servers (2 are multiprocessor machines in the K class) running HPUX 10.2 * 2 production Informix database instances running (7.31) * 4 test Informix database instances (7.24, 7.31) * NFS mounts to/from SCO unix boxes * variety of disks, including HP RAID arrays * LVM used for definition of 2Gb chunk spaces * developers using Informix 4GL and VB Interested candidates please forward a current resume to: MARK L.
