RE: IDS on HACMP
Posted in 2000
We currently have this setup on 6 different HACMP pairs. I set it up so that the INFORMIXDIR is also on the shared drives. That way any config changes will automatically carry over. We are running both rotating and cascade setups. Scripts and application software is also setup on the shared drives so that upgrades/modifications will also carry over. The most difficult part that we have had is making sure that everything is correct and current for a failover. Someone typically changes a script or an application an is not aware of the failover implications and when you do a failover not everything gets started backup. NOTE: When you install/upgrade informix you must be sure that all links in /usr/lib are create/changed on the secondary server. IDS.2000 also creates some files in /var(You can find these by looking in the RUN_AS_ROOT script). If you have any other questions, let me know. -----Original Message----- From: Mario Gunasekera To: informix-list@iiug.org Sent: 10/4/00 1:14 AM Subject: Re: IDS on HACMP HI, I know of a site that has this setup. How it was configured was we had a mirror copy of informix installed (including all the products) on the second machine with all the onconfigs, etc. identical to the first machine (same version licence etc.). The informix Dbspaces were on the disks to be shared (the disks that would be mounted on the second machine in case of first machine failure). I think these machines were configured as "mutual takeover". When the second machine takes over users who are conected on the first machine were bumped out and had to re-connect but besides that there was no other problem. What you need to remember is that what ever changes you make to the config on the fist machine you need to duplicate on the second always. Hope this helps Rgds MG Mior@mesiniaga.com.my wrote: > Hi, > > Currently I'm handling IDS 7.3 on R/S 6000 F50 machine. My company want to upgrade the system for > the purpose of availability.
