Oninit® Informix Analyser — Summary
The Oninit® Informix Analyser is a rules-based diagnostic tool for IBM Informix instances. It reads the diagnostic data Informix already produces — ifxcollect tarballs, online.log entries, AF assertion-failure files, onstat -a snapshots — and emits a prioritised, evidence-backed report of what is right, what is drifting, and what is about to break.
It is delivered as a managed service rather than a customer-installed binary. There is no agent on the customer host, no rules engine to operate in-house, and no schema change anywhere in the customer estate. The customer uploads diagnostic data to the portal; the portal returns a report.
It provides:
- Prioritised, evidence-backed findings across configuration, health, capacity, and performance.
- Concrete tuning recommendations with apply method (dynamic via onmode -wf, restart required, or operator action).
- Persistent context across sessions in Basic / Pro / Enterprise tiers, so a configuration drift visible in May is still visible in November.
- Reviewable, version-controlled SWI-Prolog rule source — every finding has a traceable evidence path.
