Hi,
I am running a restore using ontape between two different nodes. I am
using an ADSM device for the tape management. The restore of the
database seems to take a lot longer than expected. Basically there is
a bit of tape activity and a bit of disk activity but no where near
what I would call in a reasonable amount of time.
Can some one outline the ontape procedure - i.e. what it is doing or
point me to an online guide. Alternatively is there any way of getting
an idea of what ontape is doing from the ontape logs ( if you can let
me know where they are ) - I think there might be a tape wait occuring
that is not needed.
Many thanks,

Ontape with ADSM???? I was not aware that Ontape could access a storage
manager. Tell me more.
Anyway, I would do "onstat -d" and look at the flags for the dbspaces. I
don't have the info off the top of my head, but the dbspace being restored
has a different flag value. At least that way you can track which dbspace
is being restored.
