Connecting to a Unix based Informix server with NT ODBC

I'm running Informix SE 7.23uc13 Runtime and SQL 7.20ue2 Runtime. I'm trying to connect an NT network and I have two questions. Are there any special instructions I should consider when starting sqlexecd and is it possible two have two entries in for the same server in the sqlhosts file? If I can only have one entry in the sqlhosts file per server do I need to change the service name to sqlexecd instead of sqlexec? I'm also unsure of the network protocol field configuration. Mainly because I'm not sure weather the network uses a TLI or Socket interface. I know that the protocol is tcp/ip. That generally uses a socket type connection correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I suppose that for the moment you have : Servername seipcpip hostname sqlexec Because the database is acceesed via a tcp/ip network you must create a new entry in sqlhosts like this : Servername2 setlitcp hostname sqlexecd Then run sqlexecd servername2 -l servername2.log don't forget to update your /etc/services file. sqlexecd 1528/tcp Be carefull : on your windows you must set (with setnet 32) the DBPATH variable. It must be the UNIX path to your database files. On windows, the protocol name to use is sesoctcp. >If I can only have one entry in the sqlhosts file per server do I need to >change the service name to sqlexecd instead of sqlexec? most NTs have sockets - you need to check what the NT has and you need to check what your unix supports. you can start several SEs each with a different name - arg1 is the name that the daemon gets and that is the name of the service for you services and sqlhosts files.
