HP-UX 10.20: IECC-daemons at system-startup?

Hi, has anyone out there successfully implemented to start the daemons for IECC at boot-time on HP-UX 10.20? Well i tried to do it in a /sbin/rc2.d-script with su informix -c $INFORMIXDIR/bin/startsa, but it doesn't work. Then i traced it with 'sh -x' and did see in '/etc/rc.log' that both admagent and osagent are invoked with correct pathname, but however when i log in and look at 'ps -ef'-output, neither run! If i run my start-script form login-shell anything works fine. What am i missing? martin
Have you verified that the environment variables are set (in the rc script) before you attempt to start the IECC? Just a thought . . . Uhmmm, You may want to consider doing it differently. Don't do it in the startup script. Rather create a shell script that is run via init (place an entry in inittab without a respawn...) It works well for all OSs. I think its the preferred way, and if my memory is still functioning I'd swear its the way you'd do it under AIX, but hey, after sniffing glue, drinking varnish and sterno, I could be wrong. Just a tip from your Uncle Mikey. ;-) Martin Berns wrote: > Hi, > has anyone out there successfully implemented to start the daemons for > IECC at boot-time on HP-UX 10.20? > Well i tried to do it in a /sbin/rc2.d-script with > su informix -c $INFORMIXDIR/bin/startsa, but it doesn't work. > Then i traced it with 'sh -x' and did see in '/etc/rc.log' that both > admagent and osagent are invoked with correct pathname, but however > when i log in and look at 'ps -ef'-output, neither run! > If i run my start-script form login-shell anything works fine. > What am i missing? > martin

Another thing leaves unsolved: whether i run it under root or informix, stopsa won't run correctly: it returns with '1' and leaves osagent running! As I'm tired of investigations, i won't care about that anymore;-) Thanks for all your kind advices martin
