Question: Can you still receive the following Long Trnx on index enable is logging is turned off? 06:20:18 Aborting Long Transaction: tx 0x26d62388 username: informix uid: 1004 -458 Long transaction aborted. The database server (probably OnLine or INFORMIX-OnLine for NetWare) ran out of log space in which to record this transaction. A transaction that is not fully recorded cannot be rolled back. To preserve database integrity, the operating system ended the transaction and rolled it back automatically. All changes made since the start of the transaction have been removed. Terminate the application, and replan it so that it modifies fewer rows per transaction. Alternatively, contact the OnLine administrator to discuss increasing the number or the size of the logical logs. Be prepared to talk about the number of rows being updated or inserted and the size of each row. Thanks, ************************************** Ernie Knox Sears Holding Co. Ernie - Your question is not really very clear - but I think the question is can you have a long transaction when creating an index if logging is turned off? The answer is yes - even with logging off an index creation statement still generates log records, whenever a new extent is allocated for example. MM
Thanks. That's what I was asking and looking for. ************************************** Ernie Knox Sears Holding Co.
