onstat -d shows the maximum number of chunks for an IDS 7.3 instance to be
2047.The IDS 7.30.UC7XB release notes indicate that onmonitor can display a
maximum of 1000 chunks.
However, I would not recommend a large number of chunks.
It can cause I/O contention among page cleaners, not to mention additional
overhead.
It is best to make each chunk for large dbspaces, especially psapbtab,
close to 2-Gbytes in size. Your may also want to split psapbtab into
multiple dbspaces to facilitate reorganizations, parallel backups, etc.

chunks that can be assigned to a growing dbspace.
Thanks in advance
