Your service entry in your sqlhosts file should be unique. If you're using
i_net for the first instance, you'll need something else for the second
instance (e.g. i_net2). There should be a corresponding entry in the
services file for the service (e.g. 1529/tcp i_net2) and the port number
you want ot use.

Subject: Multiple instances on one server
Hi,
I tried to run a second instance of IDS 7.30 on one machine for testing
purposes.
Obviously I need additional entries in sqlhosts file and a separate
onconfig and /etc/services
as well, since I tried ontlitcp.
But when I try to initialise the second instance it will show Error -25572:
Network driver cannot bind a name to a port.
I am pretty sure that there are no typing errors.
sqlhosts:
dehamca1 onipcshm dehamca1 dehamca1
dehamca1_tcp ontlitcp dehamca1 i_net
dedev1_tcp ontlitcp dehamca1 i_net
where the last line should be the second instance.
The variable ONCONFIG is set to onconfig.dedev1, which contains all
settings for this instance.
The file onconfig.std is a link to onconfig.dedev1.
Does anybody know why this happens? How do I get both instances to run?
Thanks
