I just meant I've only demo'd and looked at report writers for over a year. I haven't done any useful work with one for ages. And I'll beat the rest of you to it: just leave out the words "with one". :-) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Sounds like I can save a _lot_ of work and switch back to plan A: Throw everything in Execel, group, sum and beautify with VBA code and have control on what's going on. (And if anyone wants graphics, tell him to call Picasso ;-) Axel
I'd look at Visionary if you want to keep it in the family, not bad and seems to do most stuff. My only concern is Informix do not have a good history with tools like this, they tend to drop off the product list quite rapidly Axel Sander wrote: > > On Wed, 16 Feb 2000 21:03:07 GMT, "Obnoxio The Clown" <obnoxio@hotmail.com> > wrote: > > >I just meant I've only demo'd and looked at report writers for over a year. > >I haven't done any useful work with one for ages. We bought something called dbPower four years ago, and it produces postscript output of text, tables, and graphs. It was renamed Saffron, and is maintained by a group called WebSci. Try going to http://www.dbpower.com for more info. Paul Watson wrote: > > I'd look at Visionary if you want to keep it in the family, not bad and > seems to do most stuff. Sorry about that. I went to www.websci.com and I can find no mention of the report writer component of Saffron, and I have not received any reply to an email posted on that web site. I hope that does not mean they have dropped the product, for it worked very well IMHO. I wonder what the protocol on copying abandoned software is?
