Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Sangho Cho (Informix 7.2 on AIX) found clients could connect without a password and revoking CONNECT from public and reinstalling did not help. Wolfgang Zager blamed AIX or setnet host settings; bob blamed sqlhosts/.rhosts trust; Art Kagel said to remove client trust on the server and in users' .rhosts files so a login and password are required. No confirmation of the result.

Hi.
I am using Informix 7.2 on IBM AIX Machine.
After Some day, Client users can connect to Informix without a password.
How can do that?
I do not want this situation.
So I revoke the connect privilege from public user, restart system,
re-install informix server,
but problems are remainning unchanged.
Please help me solve it.

since AIX is responsible for connections, the problem must arise from
it.
another possiblity maybe, if the client is a windows-machine, you
changed
host-definition in setnet.

2c says that your setup in the sqlhosts file is responsible,
the default config that the MANUAL recommends is to setup the unit
so that the .rhosts mechanism is used... bad bad bad bad

You must revoke permission to user public for "each table" in database

Make sure the client machines are not trusted on the server or in the
users' .rhosts files on the server. Then the user will be required to
connect with a login name and password.
