Script to build dbspace from onstat -d output
Posted in 2008
A DBA on IDS 9.4 (Solaris 8) asked for a script that converts 'onstat -d' output into the onspaces commands needed to recreate an instance's dbspaces/chunks. Respondents pointed to existing tools on the IIUG site -- mk_spaces.sh and dup-spaces.sh -- noting they may need tweaking to handle smart blobs and non-default page sizes, and one poster attached his own create_onspaces script that generates onspaces commands from onstat -d. The original poster thanked everyone; no further detail on which script he used.

I was wondering if anyone has a script that will take the output from a
onstat -d command and a output script of onspaces commands to build anew instance.
Running Informix 9.4.FC9
OS- Solaris 8
Thanks for any information

There is something on the IIUG website - can't remember the name but it
works well BUT needs to be adjusted for smart blobs and diferent page sizes
- not a big change

There was a mk_spaces.sh which we used. As Paul states, I don't think it
handles some of the newer options.

Long back I'd written something on the similar lines .. give it a try. =
It
creates the onspaces commands from the onstat -d output.
(See attached file: create_onspaces.zip)
Hopefully its still working .. :-)
